Pasta fresca, antipasti e dolci

The Concept: The "Best, Best Pizza" and Pasta d'Amore
With over 200 restaurants in 10 European countries, L'Osteria is one of Europe's largest Italian restaurant chains — and one of German gastronomy's best-known success stories. Founded in 1999 in Nuremberg by Friedemann Findeis and Klaus Rader, the chain celebrated its 200th restaurant in February 2025 and keeps expanding: by August 2025 there were already around 205 locations, including the first restaurant in Spain (Mallorca).
The concept is recognisable and proven: "the best, best pizza, pasta d'amore" in a warm Italian atmosphere, with an open kitchen and full table service. This isn't fast food — it's where a simple dinner becomes a small celebration.
The XXL Pizza: 45 cm Made for Sharing
The signature dish is the legendary 45-cm XXL pizza, so large it can be ordered with two different halves topped differently — perfect for sharing between two people. The menu also offers smaller sizes for those who prefer a single portion. The dough follows a traditional Italian recipe with long fermentation, and a vegan version is available too.
Fresh Pasta, Antipasti and Dolci
The pasta — the "pasta d'amore" — comes from Pastificio No. 12, L'Osteria's own pasta manufactory, and is served perfectly al dente: spaghetti al pomodoro, ragù alla bolognese, gnocchi and orecchiette are among the most-ordered classics. Antipasti follow tradition: bruschetta, beef carpaccio, vitello tonnato and insalata caprese with buffalo mozzarella. For the grand finale, the most-loved desserts are tiramisù and panna cotta. Also watch for the Menu della Casa, the seasonal offering that changes during the year, and the coffee from Bar Italiana, the in-house roastery.
A note on prices: L'Osteria publishes no single price list online. According to third-party portals, large pizzas run roughly €15 to €19, tiramisù around €5 — purely indicative figures that vary by location.
Where to Find It in Germany
With over 200 locations, one is rarely far away: the restaurant finder at losteria.net shows the nearest location with hours and contact details — hours vary by location, so checking the site before visiting is recommended.
Tips for Your Visit
Good to know before visiting L'Osteria:
- Order the XXL as a pair: with two differently topped halves, two people taste four flavors each.
- Ask about the Menu della Casa: the seasonal offering is often the evening's most interesting dish.
- Share an antipasto: the mixed antipasto is made for two and opens the meal well.
- Don't skip the coffee: Bar Italiana roasts in-house — the final espresso is part of the experience.
