McRib Abschied 2026: Am 27.
Was kommt danach?

McRib Farewell 2026: The Last Day Is October 27
It's official: the classic McRib® is leaving McDonald's Germany's standard menu. After 37 years, its last regular day of sale is Tuesday, October 27, 2026 — in Germany and Luxembourg. The last regular day of sale has passed — the classic is history since October 27, 2026.
As of October 28, 2026. McDonald's announced the end on October 13 via customer newsletter — calling the burger a "true icon" itself.
Since 1989: Why the McRib Is an Icon in Germany
The McRib was created in the early 1980s by Luxembourgish chef René Arend — as a response to a chicken shortage. In the US it disappeared as early as 1985 and only returns for promotions. In Germany, by contrast, it has been available continuously since 1989 — unique worldwide. Its recipe barely changed: a rib-shaped pork patty, smoky BBQ sauce, pickles and white onions in a long bun. Per McDonald's, the pork is 100% from Germany (Initiative Tierwohl welfare scheme). The classic's nutrition: 470 kcal at 205 g.
The Countdown: Sell-Outs Have Already Begun
Since the announcement, fans have been flocking to restaurants — many locations, especially in the Ruhr area and Dortmund, have already reported sell-outs. McDonald's gives no official reason; the menu is set to become leaner, with more rotating limited-time offers. Whether the classic will ever return as a promo burger is open — nothing is confirmed.
The countdown is over: since October 27, 2026 the classic is out of the standard menu. Limited options for rib flavour are the McRib® Sweet Heat and the McFarmer — availability varies by restaurant, check the McDonald's app. A permanent return of the classic is not confirmed; a limited-time promotion remains possible.
What Comes Next?
It won't be entirely rib-free: the McRib® Sweet Heat is a limited variant with sweet-spicy chili sauce, joined by the McFarmer as another pork special — both for a short time only. No permanent successor to the classic has been announced.
